The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is a road construction executive force in India that provides support to and is now a part of the Indian Armed Forces. BRO develops and maintains road networks in India’s border

areas and friendly neighboring countries. This includes infrastructure operations in 19 states and three union territories (including Andaman and Nicobar Islands) and neighboring countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka.

Salary :-

  • Radio Mechanic : Rs 25,500-81,100/-
  • Operator (Communication)/ Driver Mechanical Transport (OG)/Vehicle Mechanic: Rs. 19,900-63,200/-
  • Multi Skilled Worker (Driller)/Multi Skilled Worker Mason/Multi Skilled Worker Painter/Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter: Rs 18,000-56,900/-

Qualification :-

Radio Mechanic:

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Possessing Radio Mechanic Certificate from Industrial Training Institute with two years experience as Radio Mechanic in a Government, Public or Private Sector enterprises. ( OR )
  • Should possess Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute or similar establishment of Defence with two years experience in Radio Technology.( OR )
  • Having passed Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Operator (Communication) :

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Possessing Wireless Operator or Radio Mechanic Certificate from Industrial Training Institute or equivalent. ( OR )
  • Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute or similar establishment of Defence with knowledge of Radio
    Technology.( OR )
  • Having passed Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade):

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Possessing a heavy Motor vehicle driving licence. ( OR )
  • Having passed class III Course for Driver Plant Mechanical Transport as laid down in Defence Service Regulations (Qualification Regulations for Soldiers) from office of Records or Centres or similar establishment of Defence.

Vehicle Mechanic:

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Possessing certificate of Mechanic in Motor Vehicle/Diesel/ Heat Engine.( OR )
  • Possessing certificate of mechanic in internal Combustion Engine / Tractor from Industrial Training Institute or equivalent.( OR )
  • Having passed the Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute; or similar establishment of Defence or having passed Vehicle Mechanic Class II Course as laid down in Defence Service Regulations.

Multi Skilled Worker Driller :

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent
  • Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
  • Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
  • Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Mason:

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Possessing certificate of Building construction/Bricks Mason from Industrial Training Institute / Industrial Trade Certificate / National Council for Training in the Vocational Trades / State Council for Vocational Training.( OR ) 
  • Passed Certificate Class II for Mason as laid down in Defence Service Regulations Passed Certificate Class II for Mason as laid down in Defence Service Regulations.
  • Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
  • Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
  • Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Painter:

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Painter Certificate from Industrial Training Institute /Industrial Trade Certificate / National Council for Training in the Vocational Trades / State Council for Vocational Training.( OR )
  • Passed Class 2 course for painting as laid down in Defence Service Regulations.
  • Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
  • Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
  • Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter:

  • Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent.
  • Should qualify in proficiency test in the trade to be conducted by Border Roads Organisation.
  • Should qualify physical tests as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.
  • Should meet physical and medical standards as per Border Roads Organisation guidelines.

Age Limit (as on 16.02.2023) :-

  • Radio Mechanic/Operator (Communication)/Driver Mechanical Transport (Ordinary Grade)/Vehicle Mechanic: Between 18 to 27 years
  • Multi Skilled Worker Driller/Multi Skilled Worker Mason/Multi Skilled Worker Painter/Multi Skilled Worker Mess Waiter: Between 18 to 25 years

Note : Relaxable for Government servants up to 40 years in case of General candidates and up to 45 years in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government from time to time).

Age Relaxation :

  • SC/ST  – 5 years
  • Other Backward Class –  3 years
  • Central Government Civilian employee – Up to 45 years for SC/ST / 43 years for OBC / 40 years for UR
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities –  10 years
  • Ex-Serviceman  –   Ex-Serviceman who has put in NOT less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age plus 3 years in addition to age relaxation admissible to OBC/SC/ST category.
  • Jammu & Kashmir Migrant –  05 years

Selection Process :-

  • The selection is made strictly as per merit as per availability of vacancies , on the basis of marks in written exam and qualifying in the Physical Efficiency Test and Practical Test as applicable to the particular trades.
  • The dates for Written Test, Physical Efficiency Test and Practical Test (Trade Test) will be decided by Commandant, BRO School & Centre, Pune.
