IGCAR Recruitment :
Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research [IGCAR], the second largest establishment of the Department of Atomic Energy next to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, was set up at Kalpakkam, 80 KMs south of Chennai [MADRAS], in 1971 with the main objective of conducting broad based multidisciplinary programme of scientific research and advanced Engineering, directed towards the development of sodium cooled Fast Breeder Reactor [FBR] technology, in India. This is part of the second stage of Indian Atomic Energy Programme,
which is aimed at preparing the country for utilization of the extensive Thorium reserves and providing means to meet the large demands of electrical energy in 21st century. In meeting the objectives, a modest beginning was made by constructing a sodium cooled Fast Breeder Test Reactor [FBTR], with a nominal power of 40 Mwt, based on the French Reactor, RAPSODIE. The reactor attained its first criticality on 18th Oct, 1985 and has been in operation at its maximum attainable power level of 10.5 MWt with a small core. It is the first of its kind in the world to use Plutonium Uranium mixed carbide as a driver fuel.

Stipendiary Trainee Category – II :
Draughtsman (Mechanical)/Electrical / Electronics Mechanic / Instrument Mechanic/Fitter/Rigger/Mechanical Machine Tool/ Maintenance / Machinist / Turner/Plumber / Mason / Carpenter/Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic/Plant Operator/Welder :
- Minimum 60% marks in SSC with Science and Mathematics. (OR) Minimum 60% marks in HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. (AND) ITI Certificate of not less than 2 years duration in the relevant trade viz., Draftsman (Mechanical)/ Electrician/Electronic Mechanic/ Instrument Mechanic/ Fitter/ Mechanical. Machine Tool Maintenance/ Machinist/Turner/ Refrigeration & air conditioning/ Attendant Operator Chemical Plant ITI Certificate of not less than 1 year duration in the relevant trade viz., Rigger/Plumber/Mason/Carpenter/ Welder (Gas and Electric Arc)
Lab Assistant :
- Minimum 60% marks in HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Canteen Attendant :
- Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board or institution.
Work Assistant :
- Pass in 10th Standard /SSLC
Stenographer Grade-III :
- Matriculation / SSC or equivalent with 50% marks.Minimum speed of 80 wpm in English Short-hand and 30 wpm in English
Driver (OG) :
- Pass in 10. Standard / SSC; Possession of a valid driving licence to drive light and heavy vehicles; Knowledge of motor mechanism (candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicle); Consolidated experience in driving a light or heavy vehicle for at least 3 years Derisible: Possession of a valid driving licence to drive two wheelers.
Security Guard :
- SSC pass or equivalent certificate from Armed Forces. Physical Standards: As prescribed in the Method of Selection below. Candidates who Qualify the Physical test will be allowed to a ear for a written test.
